Twelve corridors
Route by route
Each corridor with the map as it was drawn in 2016, what the review asked for, what happened over the decade, and where it stands now. The coloured strip on each card shows every proposal for that route and what became of it.
Waterbeach Greenway
In design or planningThe review's Option 3 won, the towpath and railway options lost, and after ten years only the Cambridge end is open.
Horningsea Greenway
Built and openThe only one of the twelve finished — and the one whose two ambitious links were both abandoned.
Swaffham Greenway
In design or planningRenamed in the singular in February 2026 — because Swaffham Prior fell out of the scheme.
Bottisham Greenway
In design or planningAbsorbed the shared Cambridge-end section from the Swaffhams, gained Riverside, lost its underpass and its Wilbraham link.
Fulbourn Greenway
In design or planningThe urban improvements survive; the rail-corridor vision that would have transformed journeys does not.
Linton Greenway
Under constructionThe most delivered of the rural greenways — and the one where both major structures were quietly replaced or shelved.
Sawston Greenway
Approved, construction dueApproved in July 2026 — with the disused railway corridor, the whole reason for re-aligning it, paused on cost.
Melbourn Greenway
Under constructionBuilding at last, after the A505 bridge — the thing that would have finished the route — fell out of the scheme.
Haslingfield Greenway
In design or planningCompletely re-routed. The 2016 alignment, its Cam bridge and its Trumpington works are all gone.
Barton Greenway
Still arguingEverywhere except one path, this is delivered. The Baulk Path — a countryside bridleway spur — was carved out for a separate decision in July 2025 and, fourteen months on, still hasn't had one.
Comberton Greenway
Under constructionThe programme's flagship — England's first cycle street at one end, and the biggest surviving new off-road route at the other.
St Ives Greenway
In design or planningThe 'jewel in the network' got three quick wins, lost its flood fix, its bridges and its highest-priority link.
